The AX-40 Axe Sharpening Jig allows you to sharpen different types of axes to achieve convex, flat, or concave bevels. Each jaw of the jig features two stops that guide controlled movements, perfect for convex bevels. For slightly concave bevels, use one stop as a reference point. Flat bevels can be sharpened on the side of a diamond wheel using the MB-102 Multi Base.
Whether your axe has a straight or curved edge, the AX-40 adapts seamlessly. Outdoor axes and carving axes often have curved edges, while carpenter’s axes and splitting mauls tend to have straighter edges. Thanks to the jig’s rounded stops, it’s easy to follow the blade’s shape for consistent sharpening results.
With the AX-40 Axe Sharpening Jig, you can set the ideal sharpening angle using the WM-200 Angle Master. Versatile outdoor axes require a larger bevel angle for greater durability, while carving axes can be sharpened asymmetrically for precision, with a wider bevel on the left side if you’re right-handed.
The AX-40 offers exceptional flexibility. It allows you to adjust your sharpening position: with or against the wheel’s rotation, standing or sitting, and from either side of the machine. This versatility ensures maximum comfort, regardless of the type of axe you’re sharpening.
